I can go ahead and make up name tags but need your real name to go with your ch.com name, please!  Many of us have never met another clusterbuddy and the name tags will assist us in getting to put a face with a screen name.  If you don't want to STICK the gluey name tag on, that's no problem either.  Roll Eyes

If you don't want your real name posted here then feel free to p.m. me or email me at reneem@businessdeliverysystems.com with the info.

I have heard some of you are coming into town earlier.  Will there be anyone around to meet for supper on Thursday evening somewhere?  I know a really good steak/mexican food place not too far away.  Grin

See y'all not soon enough!!!   Sad

Ok I dropped the ball, got busy and did not make it by the hotel last week.

We will go by first of the week and talk to the hotel and find out about this smoking room bullshit and see what’s going on.  I’ll ask Debby if she will go see the manager with a copy of the last OUCH newsletter, she will have him sitting in the corner begging for his momma (I can only hope)….she has a good track record dealing with people, much better than mine.

Will it be warm in Texas that weekend?

Is anyone bringing kids? (maybe babysitter age) I have a 2 year old.

Where's everyone hanging out? is there an Atrium or a porch? and will we be able to smoke and drink there?

If we're just hanging out in the bar, can kids be in there?

Is there room discounts?

Sorry, I just didn't have time to read this entire freekin post. Think you can beat my 22 pager Grin

Just curious.

Norm, I'll try and answer your questions...

Will it be warm in Texas that weekend?  Who the hell knows....could be 75 or 25

Is anyone bringing kids? (maybe babysitter age) I have a 2 year old.  Don't know, mines in college and I'm not paying to bring him home

Where's everyone hanging out? is there an Atrium or a porch? and will we be able to smoke and drink there?  Hotel has a nice open bar in the lobby, smoking and drinking encouraged

If we're just hanging out in the bar, can kids be in there?  Hell yes, what are they going to say?  Plenty of room for kids

Is there room discounts?  Working on it

Sorry, I just didn't have time to read this entire freekin post. Think you can beat my 22 pager  Were working on it, going for 25!

Just my 2 cents

gotta bump for 25!!!

Last year we have a pretty bad ice storm the last week in February leaving ice pellet drifts piled against my house for over a week and nasty roads for 3 days.  We have yet to have any ice this year.

This weekend we are only having highs in the 40's.  Next weekend is forecast for 60's.  Ya never know.  If ya don't like the weather in Texas, give it 10 minutes and it will change.

workin' on 25!

Ch friends,

Below is driving directions from D/FW Airport to the Renaissance hotel:

From whichever terminal you are departing from out of DFW airport, follow the signs for the DFW north airport exit.

Merge onto TX-121 N. (this occurs automatically after going thru toll booth at north end of airport.

Merge onto I-635 E. a few miles north of the toll booths but stay in left lanes until you have passed the hwy 141 split then move into right lane for access to I-635 E.

Take the exit- exit number 23- toward MIDWAY RD/WELCH RD. off of I635 E. (about 12 miles east of DFW airport).

Go thru the Welch Rd. intersection and turn LEFT onto MIDWAY RD., go over overpass and turn LEFT (you did a u-turn) to get back on service road of I-635 headed west.

Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto VALLEY VIEW LN.
and look for Renaissance hotel at 4099 Valley View Ln.

I hope this helps!  If you are staying at another hotel and need directions, just let me know!

SmileyHi Renee...I am really impressed with the thoroughness of your directions, I have lived in this area off and on for years and couldn't have expained it  half as well.
On the nametag issue....I of course am fine with that despite my earlier  "moment".   Please feel free to use Renny/Karen  -there is story behind this but it would bore you to tears!!
Also...accidently used this brd as message brd!
Will try to keep things straight   I am in area and available  can free up some time if you need assistance w/ setting up or whatever.
Looking forward to it all.   Onward thru the fog   Karen

Renny,

Transportation is the business that I am in.  Makes it very easy to give directions when you've practiced giving those type of directions for over 19 years, but thanks for the compliment.

The only thing I am working on is the name tags at this point.  One thing that hasn't been discussed is whether or not we want any munchie trays, etc. in lobby and if hotel will allow us to bring them in.

I think we all post alot to the general board about other things and I know I'm guilty of the same, but us clusterbuddies don't always have a good memory and we find a place to call "home" and forget to go to other boards..just my opinion.  When I'm needing a hand to reach out to I am so far out of it that I just come to this board and pray someone is here to hold my hand.

I wonder why the weekends hit me harder than during the week?  Does anyone else have this issue?

Not a good Sunday here,   Angry   Sad

Renee,

Due to some business, I will not be able to attend the Texas meet and greet. maybe we should call it the Texas Support Network! Give the Midwesterners something to envy. I would like to meet my fellow Clusterheads. Does the folks from Texas have a chat room or anything?

Mediccpc,

Are you under a different name on the list of people attending?  I can't find a previous post from you regarding the meet and greet.

Anyway, if you are not working 24/7 over that weekend, i'm sure the meet and greet will go late into the night saturday night and you could showup whenever you get off of work.  We would love to see ya there!

There is not a Texas chat room, at least that I'm aware of, but there is a chat room that many ch'ers go to around 9 pm each night.  Do you have that link?

Link for the hotel.  If you try to book online, and it says there are no smoking rooms, call the hotel instead.

http://marriott.com/property/propertyPage.mi?marshaCode=DALND

It also has a map and driving directions on the page.

If they run us out of the atrium at an early hour, I booked a suite (smoking) that will hold everyone.  It has a kitchen/bar too.

Jean and anyone else staying at the Best Western off of I-35E and coming from the Houston area,

Here is the easiest way to get to Best Western, 13333 Stemmons Frwy (aka as I-35E):

Continue on I-45 North (aka as I-75 or Central Expwy.) Exit US-75 (I-45) via ramp to Exit 286A that says "to Denton and I-35E" now heading NW on Woodall Rodgers Frwy.  Stay on Woodall Rodgers Frwy for about 1 mile then exit via ramp (right lane) at sign that says I-35E N to Denton.  Stay on I-35E headed North (aka Stemmons Frwy) and get in middle or second from left lane when nearing the mixmaster for access to I635.  Do not exit I635 but stay on I-35E headed North.  Take the Valwood Pkwy exit, (right lane just a couple of exits after the mixmaster) and go to the stop light.  Take a left on Valwood Pkwy and go to next Stop light.  Take a left back onto I35E now headed South (you did a u-turn).  Stay on the service road and the hotel will be on your right very shortly and prior to Valley View Ln. intersection.

To get to Renaissance from Best Western, pull out onto Service road of I35 headed south (one way) and go to first stop light (Valley View Ln.)  Take a left onto Valley View Ln. and stay on Valley View headed East.  Go thru the Marsh Ln. intersection (several miles east of the Best Western and several traffic lights) and start looking for the Renaissance.  You will have to veer Right to stay on Valley View Ln. just prior to getting to the Renaissance.  The highway that you see from the Renaissance is I- 635 but you won't need to get on there to get back and forth from the Best Western unless you just really love to get stuck in traffic.  Shocked

Jean,

Gotta run but will send directions from Best Western to DFW Airport later.  Thanks for chatting with me thru the pain this a.m. and I can't wait to give ya a BIG HUG!

If anyone else needs directions from another area just let me know.

Tracey,
How you doing, sweetie??  You feeling better?  Damn, I sure hope so.
BTW, I DID call the hotel........2 1/2 weeks ago...they said NO smoking rooms available.  I emailed their customer service and they were to get back with me in 3 to 5 working days.....they've never contacted me.

I am gonna get a room at the Best Western on I-35.  It's about 3 or 4 miles from the Renaissance.  I think Jackie and Elaine will stay there with me.

Renee,
You don't have to thank me, sweetie, for talking you thru the bad times....but I VERY MUCH appreciate it.  It gets real bad sometimes.....and it always helps to have someone you can talk too.  I am pleased that you call me when the going gets tough.  Noone should have to go thru this.  But since we do....just know that you can call me anytime you need too.  Never can tell.....one day I may have to do the same.

Thanks for the great directions.....you make it sound very easy!

Hope you're feeling better......Tell Amy I said hello.

See you in a few days!!!

PF vibes,

Jean
